Brian, who is originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania, has received the Celia Moh Scholarship. The Celia Moh Scholarship was established in October 2001 by furniture industry entrepreneur Laurence Moh to honor his wife, Celia. The scholarship program, funded by Mr. Moh’s initial gift of $3 million, was established to provide full tuition scholarships for students whose academic endeavors would lead to careers in the home furnishings industry. For more information about the Celia Moh Scholarship visit their website here.

Brian, a senior majoring in Industrial Design, has held numerous leadership positions during his academic career including; Vice and Executive Chair for the student chapter of IDSA. His passion for both travel and design has led him to East Africa where he has been involved with the reorganization of interior spaces at a children’s hospital for Cure International. He has also been a team leader during a sponsor studio with Irwin Industrial Tools.

The scholarship has benefited Brian in many different ways but most of all it has lifted the burden of paying for college and allowed him to spend more time and energy on studio projects and less at his part time job. Additionally, he has been able to replace older, inefficient tools with new versions that have improved his work flow and time management.

Ultimately, Brian looks forward to working for an in-house design team where he can be an active team member. With interests ranging from motor sports to apparel and electronics, any design challenge would be met with enthusiasm. Brian expects to graduate in May 2011.
